The Paradoxical Wedding

The bride and groom stand at the altar, ready to recite their vows. As I watch, I can only dread what will happen. Suddenly, the bride smashes cake into the groom’s face. The groom flies into a rage, saying that their perfect wedding has been ruined. They start fighting.

I blink. They’re back at the altar about to recite their vows. The bride’s mother starts to cry. The father tells her to stop. The groom’s father tells the bride’s father to shut up. They start to fight each other. Eventually, the other guests join in the brawl.

I blink. Everything is back to normal. It starts to rain. The bride starts crying due to the scenery being ruined. Now the groom is crying due to the bride crying. Everyone stands there unsure of what to do.

I blink. It all reset. A drunk relative crashes the wedding. They start swearing, insulting the guests, making a mess, and destroying the property. Police are called. The drunk claims that this is police brutality. All I can hear are sirens, screams, and crying from the bride, groom, and guests.

I can’t handle it. I stand up and scream “I object” just to make it stop. I just want silence and stillness. Everyone is staring at me. The bride and groom never even started their vows. I realize that no matter what, I will always be the problem. I leave.
